Anne Ahira’s On Lasik

I have a friend who has a problem with her eyes. It is called myopia. Myopia “near-sightedness”, also called near- or short-sightedness, is a refractive defect of the eye in which collimated light produces image focus in front of the retina when accommodation is relaxed. She has myopia since she was 6 years old and since that she wore corrective eyeglasses to help her focus to see the object.

After 20 years wearing eyeglasses and contact lenses, she boring and want to have LASIK operation to solve her eye’s problem. LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a type of refractive laser eye surgery performed by ophthalmologists for correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. The procedure is generally preferred to photorefractive keratectomy, PRK, (also called ASA, Advanced Surface Ablation) because it requires less time for the patient’s recovery, and the patient feels less pain, overall; however, there are instances where PRK/ASA is medically indicated as a better alternative to LASIK.

Today, my friend can see clearly than before after she got LASIK operation. Great innovative for eye problem!
