Anne Ahira’s On Flash Memory

Last month I bought a digital camera. I bought it to make a photo when I was going to some beautiful place. Inside the digital camera there was a flash memory 1GB. I took my first photo used my camera on my holiday a couple weeks ago. I was so excited so I didn’t realize that my memory hasn’t enough to save my photo anymore. So, I wanted to upgrade my memory became 2GB.

I tried to search on internet about flash memory, perhaps there were another memory has a big capacity with a cheap price. I just knew that there were many kinds type of flash memory such as miniSD, M2 Micro Sony Memory Sticks, MicroSD TransFlash and many more. After that, I tried to search about the meaning of flash memory because I was so curious. I found that flash memory is non-volatile, which means that no power is needed to maintain the information stored in the chip. In addition, flash memory offers fast read access times (although not as fast as volatile DRAM memory used for main memory in PCs) and better kinetic shock resistance than hard disks. These characteristics explain the popularity of flash memory in portable devices. Another feature of flash memory is that when packaged in a “memory card,” it is enormously durable, being able to withstand intense pressure, extremes of temperature, and even immersion in water.
